"Folly, Fools and Foolishness, pt.1" (40 Days of Wisdom for Lent)

Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
“How long will you clueless people love your naïveté,
mockers hold their mocking dear,
and fools hate knowledge?
The immature will die because they turn away;
smugness will destroy fools.
(Proverbs 1:7,22,32 CEB)

Understand skill, you who are naive.
Take this to heart, you fools.
(Proverbs 8:5 CEB)

Those who wink an eye bring trouble;
those who speak foolishly are ruined.
Lying lips conceal hate,
and those who spread slander are fools.
The lips of the righteous nourish many people,
but fools who lack sense will die.
Fools enjoy vile deeds,
but those with understanding take pleasure in wisdom.
(Proverbs 10:10,18,21,23 CEB)

Those who love discipline love knowledge,
and those who hate correction are stupid.
Fools see their own way as right,
but the wise listen to advice.
Fools reveal their anger right away,
but the shrewd hide their contempt.
The shrewd conceal their knowledge,
but the heart of fools proclaims their stupidity.
(Proverbs 12:1,15-16,23 CEB)

A desire fulfilled is pleasant,
but fools find deviating from evil disgusting.
Walk with wise people and become wise;
befriend fools and get in trouble.
(Proverbs 13:19-20 CEB)

Pride sprouts in the mouth of a fool,
but the lips of the wise protect them.
A mocker searches for wisdom and gets none,
but knowledge comes quickly to the intelligent.
Stay away from fools,
for you won’t learn wise speech there.
By their wisdom the prudent understand their way,
but the stupidity of fools deceives them.
Fools mock a compensation offering,
but favor is with those who do right.
The naive believe anything,
but the prudent give thought to their steps.
Short-tempered people make stupid mistakes,
and schemers are hated.
Stupidity is the lot of the naive,
but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Wealth is the crown of the wise,
and the folly of fools is folly.
Patience leads to abundant understanding,
but impatience leads to stupid mistakes.
Wisdom resides in an understanding heart,
but it’s not known in fools.
(Proverbs 14:1,6-9,15,17-18,24,29,33)
