"Faith & Faithful, True & Trustworthy" (40 Days of Wisdom for Lent)

Don’t let loyalty and faithfulness leave you.
Bind them on your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will find favor and approval
in the eyes of God and humanity.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
don’t rely on your own intelligence.
Know him in all your paths,
and he will keep your ways straight.
Don’t consider yourself wise.
Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Don’t fear sudden terror
or the ruin that comes to the wicked.
The Lord will be your confidence;
he will guard your feet from being snared.
(Proverbs 3:3-7,25-26 CEB)

Doesn’t Wisdom cry out
and Understanding shout?
Listen, for I speak things that are correct;
from my lips comes what is right.
My mouth utters the truth;
my lips despise wickedness.
(Proverbs 8:1,6-7 CEB)

A slanderer walks around revealing secrets,
but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.
Those who trust in their wealth will wither,
but the righteous will thrive like leafy trees.
(Proverbs 11:13,28 CEB)

Those who state the truth speak justly,
but a false witness deceives.
Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue lasts only for a moment.
The Lord detests false lips;
he favors those who do what is true.
(Proverbs 12:17,19,22 CEB)

Good insight brings favor,
but the way of the faithless is their ruin.
Wicked messengers fall into trouble,
but a reliable one brings healing.
(Proverbs 13:15,17 CEB)

A truthful witness doesn’t lie,
but a false witness spews lies.
Don’t those who plan evil go astray?
Those who plan good receive loyalty and faithfulness.
(Proverbs 14:5,22 CEB)

Those with insight find prosperity;
those who trust the Lord are blessed.
Love and faithfulness reconcile guilt;
the fear of the Lord turns away evil.
(Proverbs 16:6,20 CEB)

People long for trustworthiness;
it is better to be poor than a liar.
(Proverbs 19:22 CEB)

Many people will say that they are loyal,
but who can find a reliable person?
Don’t say, “I’ll repay the evildoer!”
Wait for the Lord, and he will save you.
(Proverbs 20:6,22 CEB)

Turn your ear and hear the words of the wise;
focus your mind on my knowledge.
It will be pleasant if you keep the words in you,
if you have them ready on your lips.
So that your trust will be in the Lord,
I’m teaching you today—yes, you.
(Proverbs 22:17-19 CEB)

Buy truth and don’t sell it;
buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.
(Proverbs 23:23 CEB)

Trusting a treacherous person at a difficult time
is like having a bad tooth or a wobbly foot.
(Proverbs 25:19 CEB)

Trustworthy are the bruises of a friend;
excessive are the kisses of an enemy.
(Proverbs 27:6 CEB)

Greedy people stir up conflict,
but those who trust the Lord become prosperous.
Those who trust in their own reasoning are fools,
but those who walk in wisdom will be kept safe.
(Proverbs 28:25,26 CEB)

People are trapped by their fear of others;
those who trust the Lord are secure.
(Proverbs 29:25 CEB)

All God’s words are tried and true;
a shield for those who take refuge in him.
