"Dilligence vs Laziness, pt.2" (40 Days of Wisdom for Lent)

Those who are lazy in their work
are brothers to thugs.
(Proverbs 18:9 CEB)

Laziness brings on deep sleep;
a slacker goes hungry.
Lazy people bury their hand in the bowl;
they won’t even put it to their mouth.
(Proverbs 19:15,24 CEB)

The lazy don’t plow during winter;
at harvest they look but find nothing.
Don’t love sleep or you will be poor;
stay alert and you will have plenty to eat.
(Proverbs 20:4,13 CEB)

The plans of the diligent end up in profit,
but those who hurry end up with loss.
The desires of the lazy will kill them,
because their hands refuse to do anything.
(Proverbs 21:5,25 CEB)

A lazy person says, “There’s a lion in the street!
I’ll be killed in the town square!”
(Proverbs 22:13 CEB)

Get your outside work done;
make preparations in the field;
then you can build your house.
I happened upon the field of a lazy person,
by the vineyard of one with no sense.
Thorns grew all over it;
weeds covered the ground,
and the stone wall was falling down.
I observed this and took it to heart;
I saw it and learned a lesson.
“A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little lying down with folded arms”—
and poverty will come on you like a prowler,
deprivation like a man with a shield.
(Proverbs 24:27,30-34 CEB)

A person without self-control
is like a breached city, one with no walls.
(Proverbs 25:28 CEB)

A lazy person says, “There’s a lion in the path!
A lion in the plazas!”
As a door turns on its hinge,
so do lazy people in their beds.
Lazy people bury their hand into the bowl,
too tired to return it to their mouth.
Lazy people think they are wiser
than seven people who answer sensibly.
(Proverbs 26:14-16 CEB)

Be fully aware of the condition of your flock,
and pay close attention to your herds.
Wealth is not forever.
Nor does a crown last from one generation to the next.
(Proverbs 27:23-24 GW)

Those who work the land will have plenty to eat,
but those with worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
(Proverbs 28:19 CEB)
